MERS™ 2.0 is approved for continuing education credit by CECBEMS*. Each of the scenarios is worth .5 CEU for a total of 8 for the entire program. The CECBEMS activity number is .01-CECB-F3-0026.

Instructor's must report to CECBEMS* the names of EMS provider participants who successfully earn CEUs in each MERS™ course. The following is the process for reporting participants:

  • Participants must receive 70% or more "excellent" or "needs some improvement ratings" on evaluation, 70% or better on their respective skill sheet, and not miss any "critical criteria"
  • The CECBEMS* web site will allow direct submission of participant names. Until this site is available, you must submit the MS Excel Participant List available at www.cecbems.com on the Application Form page. You may submit this list via e-mail or by US mail.
  • A check for the listing fee and a summary of the participant evaluations should accompany the Participant List. The fee is $15 for each offering of the course. When web site submission is available, the fee must be submitted before you can access the web site for submission of participant names.
  • Instructors and/or organizations must maintain CE activity records for 5 years, including participant names and individual test results.

If you have questions regarding the CECBEMS accreditation process, contact Liz Sibley at lsibley@cecbems.com or call 972-387-2862.

About CECBEMS

*CECBEMS is a nonprofit organization with headquarters in Dallas, Texas. It was chartered in 1992 by the National Association of EMTs, American College of Emergency Physicians, National Association of EMS Physicians, National Registry of EMTs, and the National Association of State EMS Directors. The National Association of EMS Educators became a sponsoring organization in 1998.

CECBEMS's purpose is to implement an accreditation process for continuing education activities offered to EMS personnel that is peer-generated, non-governmental, and recognized nationally. CECBEMS accredits continuing education activities under a centralized review process similar to that of other health care professionals.

CECBEMS operates a new federally funded web site for EMS providers, state EMS agencies, and the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT). The site allows EMS providers to view their CE history, as well as allow all 50-state EMS agencies and the NREMT to validate CE records of providers
